For first time, EGLE announces proposed air permits in four languages

Microphone in stand at public meetingFor the first time, the Michigan Department of Environment, Great Lakes, and Energy's Air Quality Division (AQD) has provided information about two proposed air permits open for public comment in four languages: Spanish, Arabic, Bengali, and English. Comments are being taken on two projects: Bridging North America and the General Motors LLC Detroit Hamtramck Assembly plant - both in Detroit.

The effort is part of the implementation of the department's Limited English Proficiency Plan and its environmental justice screening process to help identify when there may be a need for translation.

The AQD translated information on the air permit comment periods to help the public participate in a meaningful way with the permitting process, including GovDelivery notices, the Proposed Project Summaries, the Notices of Hearing and the Interested Party letters.

Information on air permits open for public comment can be found at Michigan.gov/EGLEAirPublicNotice.
