EGLE to host virtual public meeting to discuss proposed major modification of Wayne Disposal Inc.'s hazardous waste facility operating license

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

June 23, 2021

The Michigan Department of Environment, Great Lakes, and Energy (EGLE) will host a virtual public meeting June 29 to give community members an opportunity to learn about Wayne Disposal Inc.'s (WDI) modification request to its hazardous waste facility operating license.

The modification request seeks to change the landfill liner design, and currently is under review by EGLE. WDI operates a hazardous waste landfill located at 49350 North I-94 Service Drive in Belleville, Michigan. This meeting will take place virtually to help mitigate the spread of COVID-19, and give community members an opportunity to engage with EGLE.

The meeting will allow attendees to hear directly from EGLE staff, and have questions answered. The meeting will begin at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, June 29, 2021.  It will include an EGLE presentation covering WDI's modification request, and EGLE's licensing process. A question-and-answer session with EGLE staff will follow the presentation.

Individuals interested in attending can pre-register or join when the meeting starts without registering using the pre-registration link.  After registering, attendees will receive a confirmation email containing information about joining the meeting. For those without internet access or who would like to join by phone, call 636-651-3142, and use conference code 374288.
