Rapid rate granular media filters are the most common technology used to treat surface water sources in the state of Michigan.  Therefore, it is vital that water system staff understand how to use filter studies to maintain and optimize filter performance.  This session will cover the basics of filter operation and various filter study activities, such as filter coring, sieve analysis, and measuring bed expansion.
