MI Healthy Climate Public Input Session - Marquette
MI Healthy Climate Public Input Session - Marquette
(Registration is recommended)
The Michigan Department of Environment, Great Lakes & Energy’s Office of Climate and Energy, along with councils of government and community-based organizations, is holding five in-person sessions, plus two virtual sessions, to gain input from the general public on strategic, equitable implementation of the MI Healthy Climate Plan (MHCP). Released in 2021 after a rigorous, statewide stakeholder engagement process, the MHCP underscores the urgent need for action on climate and identifies bold, necessary, and strategic measures to deliver a carbon neutral economy. The MHCP identifies actions to reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions by 50-52% from 2005 baselines by 2030 in an equitable manner.
The 5 in-person sessions will be held across Michigan to diversify input and provide localized context. The agenda will start with education around the MHCP and progress on goals, with most of the session focused on hearing top priorities in your community, barriers to implementation, and environmental justice considerations in formulating potential implementation projects. Snacks and beverages will be available at each session. Preregistration is requested for planning purposes.
