Basic Chemistry for Water Operators - Webinar Series 2025

February 6, 7, 13, and 14, 2025

The Michigan Department of Environment, Great Lakes and Energy (EGLE) developed this Basic Chemistry webinar series for beginners and established operators who would like more understanding of chemistry as it relates to water treatment. This virtual chemistry series will help establish the background knowledge required to progress to the next state of chemistry for drinking water and wastewater operators.

This course is comprised of four 2.5-hour sessions held on February 6, 7, 13, and 14.

Registration Fee: $75 includes all 4 sessions.

Registration/Cancellation Deadline: February 5, 2025.   Register Now

Continuing Education

To be eligible for CECs, you must attend the entire session, answer all webinar poll questions, and be a paid registrant.

Drinking Water Operators: Each session provides 0.2 CECs for up to 0.8 Technical CECs for Drinking Water Operators.
Wastewater Operators: Each Part is approved for 0.4 Technical CECs for Wastewater Operators. You must register and attend both Session A and B of each Part to be eligible for Wastewater CECs.
Repeat Credit: This course is not eligible for repeat credit if taken more than once in the same renewal cycle.

Sessions
Part 1 consists of two sessions (A and B) that build on each other, and the lesson topics include the history of chemistry, parts of an atom, the periodic table, bond types and forms, naming compounds, and balancing equations.
