LANSING, Mich. – As the snowstorm wanes in the Lower Peninsula, the Michigan Agency for Energy (MAE)  and the Michigan Public Service Commission (MPSC) today provided utility customers a number of tips.

Available are three consumer alerts on storm-related issues: how to prepare for a power outage and what to do if electric power is lost; safely using supplemental home heating sources; and tips for safe use of a portable generator.

"Safety is of paramount importance during a storm," said MPSC Chairman Sally Talberg.  "We urge utility customers to respond to any outages in a safe manner.  The consumer alerts answer the most frequent questions on these issues."
