LANSING, Mich. – The Michigan Agency for Energy (MAE) and the Michigan Public Service Commission (MPSC) will host an informational exhibit at the Upper Peninsula State Fair in Escanaba from August 15 to August 21 during fair hours.
“The popularity of the Upper Peninsula State Fair makes it a great location for customer outreach,” noted Valerie Brader, MAE’s executive director. “Staff will be available to answer questions related to MPSC utility matters including electric, natural gas, telecommunications and cable service; take complaints for follow up; and provide helpful information. In addition, information will be available on how to cut energy bills by reducing waste; take advantage of low propane pricing; and an update on the U.P.’s electric challenges and some solutions that are on their way to implementation.”
The exhibit will be located in the Ruth Butler building. MAE staff will also be hosting a table during the fair’s Wellness Clinic on Aug. 19 in the Grandstand Concourse.
This year marks the fifth time that the state’s energy outreach staffers have participated at the Upper Peninsula State Fair. Over the past four years, over 2,650 people have stopped by the state’s exhibit to get information or ask questions.
In previous years, over 60,000 people have visited the Upper Peninsula State Fair. More information about the fair – including ticket information – is available on its website.
