LANSING, Mich. – Bring your questions about how to be smart about using energy when you visit the Michigan Agency for Energy (MAE) information table at the Upper Peninsula State Fair in Escanaba next week.

For the seventh year in a row, representatives from MAE and the Michigan Public Service Commission (MPSC) will be available to discuss residential and non-residential energy issues or take complaints about utility service. Topics of discussion include energy waste reduction, the impact of federal tax law changes on utility bills, the state’s new energy laws, safe digging practices, and locking in propane pricing.

“We’re excited to once again be a part of the excitement at the U.P. State Fair,” said Anne Armstrong Cusack, executive director of MAE. “It’s a great opportunity to meet so many wonderful Michiganders and answer their energy questions. Our helpful staff will be prepared to discuss electricity, natural gas, telecommunications, and U.P. energy issues, safety around utility infrastructure, energy waste reduction, as well as take complaints for follow up action.”

The MAE and MPSC staff will be at Table 37 in the Ruth Butler Building. In previous years, more than 4,500 people have stopped by for information.

Representatives from the two agencies will be available:

  • 5-10 p.m., Monday, Aug. 13.
  • 10:30 a.m. to 10:30 p.m., Tuesday, Aug. 14, through Saturday, Aug. 18.
  • 10:30 a.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 19.

MAE and the MPSC will also have an informational table at the Senior Citizen’s Day from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 15, in the Grand Concourse.
