5,000 More Homes Visited Today by Water Response Teams

Residents Can Drop-off Water Samples to Water Resource Sites

FLINT, Mich.  Today, the water response teams distributed resources to 5,040 Flint homes providing residents with free bottled water, filters, water replacement cartridges and water testing kits.

To date, more than 21,300 homes in the City of Flint were either visited by a water response team, comprised of city, county and state personnel, American Red Cross and volunteers, or the resident has visited a water resource site to pick up these resources.

There is a coordinated effort to ensure that each Flint home is provided with a water filter and other water supplies.  This data is being collected and mapped in real-time, so water response teams know where to focus their door-to-door efforts.

Since January 9, the following resources have been distributed to residents, both at the water resource sites and by water response teams, in addition to donations:

  • More than 37,300 cases of water
  • More than 53,700 water filters
  • More than 7,300 water testing kits

The State of Michigan has purchased the following resources, since January 5, which will continue to be delivered to Flint over the coming days:

  • Nearly 83,000 cases of water
  • More than 115,700 water filters
  • More than 69,100 water testing kits

Resources and efforts continue to expand with more volunteers and additional National Guard members. Today, additional National Guard members arrived in Flint, bringing the total number of soldiers to approximately 70 to hand out water resources at water resource sites.

To help enhance the water testing process, Flint residents can drop-off water samples to the five water resource sites. Samples will only be accepted by using the official water testing kits provided at the water resource sites and by the water response teams.

The water resource sites remain open daily from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. and are located at:
