LANSING, Mich. – Gov. Rick Snyder today announced the appointment of Larry Yachcik of Chelsea to the Michigan Veterans’ Facility Authority Board of Directors.
The nine-member board governs the Michigan Veterans’ Facility Authority and consists of the director of the Department of Military and Veterans Affairs and eight members appointed by the Governor who have professional knowledge, skill or experience in long-term care, health care licensure or finance, or medicine.
“Larry’s years of experience in long-term care, along with his military service gives me confidence he will represent veterans well, and I thank him for his commitment to this board,” Snyder said.
Yachcik recently retired from the Porter Hills Retirement Communities & Services after serving almost 10 years as president and CEO of the organization. He was honorably discharged after serving in the United States Army Security Agency and holds a bachelor’s of science degree in business and community development from Central Michigan University. He will represent the interests of one or more congressionally chartered veterans’ organizations and fill the vacancy created by the passing of Paul Potter.
Yachcik will serve the remainder of a four-year term expiring April 15, 2021. His appointment is subject to the advice and consent of the Senate.
