August 19-25, 2018: Concrete Pipe Week
WHEREAS, reinforced concrete pipe and precast are of vital importance to sustainable communities and to the health, safety and well-being of the people of Michigan; and,
WHEREAS, such reinforced concrete pipe and precast concrete products and services could not be provided without the dedicated efforts of the concrete pipe and precast concrete industry, the trucking industry, the sand and rock producers, the cement producers and employees, who are responsible for designing, manufacturing, distributing, educating and supplying reinforced concrete pipe and precast concrete products to the owners and contractors, who design, construct and maintain our transportation and storm drainage infrastructure, and our residential and commercial subdivisions, which are so essential to our citizens; and,
WHEREAS, it is in the public interest of the citizens, civic leaders and children in the United States of America to gain knowledge of and to maintain a progressive interest in the importance of the reinforced concrete pipe and precast industry in their respective communities and that it is made of all natural materials; rock, sand, water, and cement, which the State of Michigan supplies; and,
WHEREAS, the year 2018 marks the 111th year of the American Concrete Pipe Association, which began as a means of exchanging ideas and establishing a high quality, standardized product, which the Concrete Pipe Association of Michigan fully supports in both actions and deeds; and,
WHEREAS, during this week we urge people to join with representatives of the Concrete Pipe Association of Michigan and the American Concrete Pipe Association in activities and ceremonies designed to pay tribute to our concrete pipe and precast industry manufacturers, professionals, engineers, managers, and employees and to recognize the substantial contributions they have made to our national health, safety, welfare, and quality of life;
NOW, THEREFORE, I, Rick Snyder, governor of Michigan, do hereby proclaim August 19-25, 2018 as Concrete Pipe Week in Michigan.
