October 26, 2018: BSA and AML Professional Day
WHEREAS, BSA (Bank Secrecy Act) and AML (Anti-Money Laundering) professionals are the first line of defense against money laundering and terrorist financing, playing a vital role in uncovering criminal threats to the United States and its citizens; and,
WHEREAS, BSA and AML professionals in financial institutions, agencies and law enforcement hold the weight of protecting U.S. citizens nationally, regionally and locally; and,
WHEREAS, these BSA and AML professionals are crucial to our defense against crimes like money laundering, elder abuse, human trafficking and terrorist financing. These professionals work tirelessly with other local law enforcement agencies to uncover these criminal activities and protect the citizens of our great nation; and,
WHEREAS, Banker’s Toolbox was founded to support the work of BSA and AML professionals to fight criminal activity and continue that commitment by holding BSA and AML professionals in great esteem through conduct and resources;
NOW, THEREFORE, I, Rick Snyder, governor of Michigan, do hereby proclaim October 26, 2018 as BSA and AML Professional Day in Michigan.
