WHEREAS, Michigan's universities are committed to serving society and the state of Michigan as they provide the tools students need to become our nation's future leaders; and,
WHEREAS, education is vital to the growth and success of students, and our universities recognize the importance of a diverse student body, encouraging learners of all backgrounds to pursue graduate education; and,
WHEREAS, graduate educators in master's and doctoral programs across the state are providing the knowledge and analytical skills that will ensure Michigan workers are among the most productive in the world; and,
WHEREAS, from research for new medical treatments to alternative energy, Michigan's graduate students contribute much to our state and nation, and on this day, we recognize the value of graduate education;
NOW, THEREFORE, I, Rick Snyder, Governor of Michigan, do hereby proclaim Thursday, April 14 2011 as Graduate Education Day in Michigan.
