September 12 through September 17, 2011: Radiologic Technologists Week

WHEREAS, there are more than 200,000 radiologic technologists serving in the United States and approximately 8,000 currently serving in Michigan; and, 


WHEREAS, radiologic technologists obtain extensive education and training which typically leads to a certificate, associate's degree or bachelor's degree, and in most states, additional licensure and certification is required; and,


WHEREAS, the radiologic technologist field is divided into several groups including diagnostic radiology, ultrasound, nuclear medicine, radiation therapy, C.T. scanning and M.R.I. imaging; radiologic technologists are a vital part of the medical team, serving in both clinics and hospitals; and,


WHEREAS, during this week, we recognize the dedicated service of radiologic technologists throughout Michigan, and encourage citizens in our state to learn more about careers in radiologic technology;


NOW, THEREFORE, I, Rick Snyder, Governor of Michigan, do hereby proclaim Monday, September 12 through Saturday, September 17, 2011 as Radiologic Technologists Week in Michigan.
