August 5 through August 11, 2012: Michigan Health Center Week

WHEREAS, health centers throughout the nation have provided accessible and affordable preventative and primary health care, integrated dental services and behavioral services to individuals and families in need for more than 45 years; and,


WHEREAS, health centers serve as medical homes for more than 20 million citizens at more than 8,100 locations in the United States; and,


WHEREAS, additionally, as locally owned and operated businesses, health centers are critical economic drivers in the communities which they serve; and,


WHEREAS, during this week, we raise awareness of health centers and the vital services they provide in Michigan; we recognize the staff, board members and other community partners who continue to provide quality and affordable health care to citizens of the Great Lakes State;  


NOW, THEREFORE, I, Rick Snyder, governor of Michigan, do hereby proclaim Sunday, August 5 through Saturday, August 11, 2012 as Michigan Health Center Week.
