October 2012: Child Support Month

WHEREAS, the collection and distribution of child support strengthens families by ensuring emotional and financial support for Michigan's children, our greatest resource; and,


WHEREAS, Michigan's child support program consists of child support workers employed in state and local departments, hospitals and community partner agencies who are dedicated to ensuring that citizens receive quality child support services; and,  


WHEREAS, Michigan continues its national leadership role in child support collections distributed, with $1.33 billion distributed in 2011; and,  


WHEREAS, during this month, we recognize the efforts of child support employees working in state and local departments and agencies; we encourage citizens, especially parents, throughout the Great Lakes State to recognize the important role child support plays in the lives of Michigan's children;


NOW, THEREFORE, I, Rick Snyder, governor of Michigan, do hereby proclaim October 2012 as Child Support Month in Michigan.
