August 2, 2017: Professional Engineers Day

WHEREAS, licensed professional engineers are dedicated to applying scientific knowledge, mathematics, and ingenuity to develop solutions for technical, societal, and commercial problems while holding paramount public health, safety and welfare; and,

WHEREAS, Michigan licensed professional engineers have made significant contributions on a local and national scale; and,

WHEREAS, Michigan’s economy has grown, in part, because its licensed professional engineers are instrumental to our community; and,

WHEREAS, August 2, 2017 has been declared Professional Engineers Day by the Michigan Society of Professional Engineers in conjunction with the National Society of Professional Engineers, an organization founded in 1934 that represents the interests of more than 31,000 licensed professional engineers and those on the path to licensure, who show the highest level of dedication to their profession in all 50 states and US territories;

NOW THEREFORE, I, Rick Snyder, governor of Michigan, do hereby proclaim August 2, 2017 as Professional Engineers Day in Michigan.
