November 25, 2017: Small Business Saturday
WHEREAS, the government of Michigan, celebrates our local small businesses and the contribution they make to our local economy and community. According to the United States Small Business Administration, there are currently 27.9 million small businesses in the United States; and,
WHEREAS, 99% of Michigan businesses are small businesses and Michigan’s small businesses employ 50% of Michigan workers; and,
WHEREAS, a reported 15.4 billion was spent at small businesses nationwide on Small Business Saturday 2016; and,
WHEREAS, Michigan supports our local businesses that create jobs, boost our local economy and preserve our neighborhoods; and,
WHEREAS, on this day, we join with the Small Business Association of Michigan to encourage citizens of Michigan to support small businesses in their communities by buying local and participating in Small Business Saturday;
NOW, THEREFORE, I, Rick Snyder, governor of Michigan, do hereby proclaim November 25, 2017 as Small Business Saturday.
