Gov. Rick Snyder: Weather conditions could be a concern for Mackinac Bridge Walk

September 6, 2015

The annual Mackinac Bridge Walk is a Pure Michigan tradition but keeping all Michiganders safe is our top priority

The National Weather Service forecasts a near certainty of rain during morning hours of Labor Day in the Mackinaw City area. People hoping to participate in the traditional five-mile walk across the bridge should take precautions and dress appropriately.

Thunderstorms and lightning remain a possibility and could force a delay or cancelation of the bridge walk. Authorities are working with the National Weather Service to monitor probable weather patterns and conditions for the walk.

Before heading to the event, which begins at 7 a.m. on Labor Day in St. Ignace, people should check for updates on the Michigan Department of Transportation’s website, Mackinac Bridge Authority’s website or Facebook accounts for MDOT and Gov. Rick Snyder.
