May 4-9, 2015: Putting Investors First Week

WHEREAS, investors are the foundation of a strong and growing economy; and,

WHEREAS, the investment profession provides significant employment in Michigan; and,

WHEREAS, the ethical practices of objectivity, fairness and transparency are paramount to the investment process; and,

WHEREAS, the members of the Chartered Financial Analyst Societies of West Michigan and Detroit are champions of ethical behavior and are committed to professional excellence; and,

WHEREAS, those members desire to work toward shaping an investment industry that serves the greater good by promoting the fair treatment of all investors; and,

WHEREAS, it is appropriate that a week should be set aside each year to direct our thoughts toward investors and how they could be better served by their advisors; and ,

WHEREAS, financial professionals across Michigan, the United States and the world are uniting this week in their commitment to put “investors first” through public service campaigns designed to empower investors to demand ethical conduct from their financial service providers and to better equip those providers to meet that demand;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, Rick Snyder, governor of Michigan, do hereby proclaim May 11-15, 2015 as Investors First Week in Michigan.
