WHEREAS, Hypoparathyroidism is a rare complex medical disorder that affects both males and females of all ages; and,
WHEREAS, Hypoparathyroidism is a serious lifelong medical condition that is debilitating and has a serious impact on the lives of those affected as well as their loved ones; and,
WHEREAS, many people with Hypoparathyroidism experience many lifelong health risks, few treatment options, along with a sense of isolation; and,
WHEREAS, the public and the medical community are under-educated about Hypoparathyroidism; and,
WHEREAS, the mission of the Hypoparathyroidism Association is to educate the public and the medical community about Hypoparathyroidism; and,
WHEREAS, Hypoparathyroidism Association, Inc. is organizing a statewide observance of Hypoparathyroidism Awareness Day on June 1, 2015, and years thereafter, where the patients, medical professionals, researchers, government officials, and pharmaceutical companies are joining together to focus attention on this misunderstood rare medical disorder.
NOW, THEREFORE, I, Rick Snyder, governor of Michigan, do hereby proclaim June 1, 2015 as Hypoparathyroidism Awareness Day in Michigan.
