WHEREAS, the Juvenile Products Manufactures Association (JPMA) is a national trade organization representing 95% of the prenatal to preschool industry and represents companies who manufacture, import and/or distribute infant products such as cribs, car seats, strollers, bedding, and a wide range of accessories and decorative items; and,
WHEREAS, JPMA has been recognized as an organization dedicated to enhancing children’s product safety whose extensive history of leadership in juvenile product safety includes the development of a comprehensive Certification Program to help guide parents and caregivers toward purchasing juvenile products that are built with safety in mind; and,
WHEREAS, independent standards organizations and the safety standards developed in cooperation with industry experts, consumer advocates and government agencies result in some of the best hazard-based standards that ensure today’s parents may be comfortably secure in the safe use and selection of their juvenile products; and,
WHEREAS, JPMA, its members and lawmakers share the commitment to work together to ensure the safety of the infants and children whose caregivers have entrusted them with the creation of safe and secure products. They stand together firmly devoted to supporting the safety and well-being of Michigan’s children today, tomorrow and always;
NOW, THEREFORE, I, Rick Snyder, governor of Michigan, do hereby proclaim September, 2015 as Baby Safety Month in Michigan.
