WHEREAS, child support strengthens families and invests in the future of our children, our communities, and our state; and,
WHEREAS, the Michigan child support program exists to encourage and facilitate means by which children receive the emotional and financial support they need from both parents; and,
WHEREAS, child support workers, employers, many state and county departments, hospitals and community partners cooperate to ensure citizens receive quality child support services; and,
WHEREAS, the efforts of dedicated professionals who work in the Michigan child support program helped collect an average of $610,355 per worker in 2014; and,
WHEREAS, Michigan continues its national leadership role in child support collections with $1.36 billion being distributed in 2015;
NOW, THEREFORE, I, Rick Snyder, governor of Michigan, do hereby proclaim October 2015, as Child Support Month in Michigan.
