October 19-25, 2015: Massage Therapy Awareness Week

WHEREAS, traditionally, the last week of October is designed to raise public awareness of the benefits of therapeutic massage and encourage Americans to seek massage therapy for stress relief, pain management and general health; and,

WHEREAS, beginning in 1997, The American Massage Therapy Association began promoting National Massage Therapy Awareness Week as a means to better inform the news media and the public about the efficacy of massage and the professionalism of AMTA massage therapists;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, Rick Snyder, governor of Michigan, do hereby proclaim October 19-25, 2015 as Massage Therapy Awareness Week in Michigan.
