WHEREAS, the health and safety of all Michigan residents is crucial to the happiness, prosperity and well-being of our state’s families and communities; and,
WHEREAS, Michigan is proud of our dedicated police officers who put their lives at risk every day in order to keep our communities safe; and,
WHEREAS, these officers stand as leaders in educating the community about public safety; and,
WHEREAS, we appreciate the extraordinary sacrifices made by officers and their families on a daily basis in order to protect our schools, workplaces, roadways, and homes; and,
WHEREAS, National Law Enforcement Appreciation Day is an opportunity to show our support for all law enforcement and to honor their immense efforts;
NOW, THEREFORE, I, Rick Snyder, governor of Michigan, do hereby proclaim January 9, 2016 as Law Enforcement Appreciation Day in Michigan.
