WHEREAS, the environmental health profession is dedicated to the improvement of public health through management of the environment and preventative measures. Its efforts contribute to the continued improvement and protection of the public's general welfare; and,
WHEREAS, Michigan's environmental health profession applies science-based expertise to known and potential problems, which often results in avoiding health hazards and reducing total health care costs; and,
WHEREAS, during this week, we join with the Michigan Environmental Health Association to encourage citizens throughout the state to learn more about the environmental health profession and to recognize its many contributions; and,
WHEREAS, throughout the years, the Michigan Environmental Health Association has held an annual conference and will this year hold its 73rd Annual Education Conference from March 15-16, 2017;
NOW, THEREFORE, I, Rick Snyder, governor of Michigan, do hereby proclaim March 12-18, 2017 as Environmental Health Week in Michigan.
