WHEREAS, the Internet has become an essential tool allowing us to better connect with family and friends, work more efficiently and better manage our everyday lives; and,
WHEREAS, with these benefits also come potential new risks to our confidential information and privacy; and,
WHEREAS, people of all ages should know how to protect their private accounts and information; and,
WHEREAS, increasing awareness, education and training creates a digital community that is safer and more resistant from online attacks; and,
WHEREAS, The U.S. Congress has designated June as National Internet Safety Month;
NOW, THEREFORE, I, Rick Snyder, governor of Michigan, do hereby proclaim June 2017 as Internet Safety Month in Michigan.
