WHEREAS, working with Michigan's business community, chambers of commerce advance the civic, economic, industrial, professional, social and cultural systems of our state; and,
WHEREAS, chambers of commerce are supported by the financial and volunteer resources of over 250,000 small and medium sized businesses located and operating in the state of Michigan; and,
WHEREAS, for over 100 years, chambers of commerce have been contributing to the protection of commerce as well as Michigan's business climate; and,
WHEREAS, The Michigan Association of Chamber Professionals (MACP) has worked to promote excellence and high ethical standards for chambers of commerce through education, information and networking opportunities since 1955; and,
WHEREAS, during this month we recognize the chambers of commerce of Michigan and their many dedicated volunteers for their steadfast work in support of our state;
NOW, THEREFORE, I, Rick Snyder, governor of Michigan, do hereby proclaim October 2017 as Chamber of Commerce Month in Michigan.
