Office of State Employer, Michigan Corrections Organization Reach Tentative Agreement

LANSING - The Office of the State Employer and the Michigan Corrections Organization (MCO) have reached a tentative agreement to modify the existing provisions of the collective bargaining agreement for the Security Unit of state employees.

The tentative agreement addresses MCO's share of the $50 million in employee savings assumed in the FY 2010 state budget.

The MCO represents almost 8,400 state employees in the Security Unit with approximately 8,200 corrections officers employed in the Department of Corrections and 200 forensic security assistants in the Department of Community Health.  The tentative agreement is subject to ratification by the membership and will be presented for a vote during the upcoming weeks.
