Gov. Rick Snyder makes appointment, reappointments to Corn Marketing Committee

LANSING, Mich. – Gov. Rick Snyder today announced the appointment of Craig McManus, of Eaton Rapids, and the reappointments of Steve Lonier, of Lansing, and Paul Wagner, of Grawn, to the Michigan Corn Marketing Committee.
The nine-member committee prepares and oversees the research and marketing program budget, promoting the advancement of Michigan's corn industry.
“Corn is a crucial part of our food and agriculture industry, and I thank these appointees for their service on this important committee,” Snyder said.
Appointment:
McManus is president of M&W Seeds Inc. He currently farms 500 acres of corn, 550 acres of soybeans, and is a certified crop advisor. McManus received his bachelor’s degree in crop and soil science and agriculture technology and systems management from Michigan State University. He will represent District 5 growers and replaces Richard Dobbins.
Reappointments:
Lonier is co-owner of Shady Lodge Farm, LLC. He has farmed for 30 years and has 3,000 acres of corn and soybeans. He will continue to represent District 6 growers.
Wagner is owner of A&P Farms. He farms 860 acres of corn, soybeans, hay, wheat and oats, as well as 12-20 feeder cattle. He also works part-time as a crop consultant running a custom application business for row crops. Wagner is a member of the Northwest County Farm Bureau Board. He will continue to represent District 9 growers.
Members serve three-year terms expiring March 5, 2019. Their appointments are subject to the advice and consent of the Senate.
