Futures for Frontliners
Futures for Frontliners is a last-dollar scholarship. That means the federal Pell grant and tuition-restricted scholarships or awards (excluding the Tuition Incentive Program (TIP)) be applied first before Futures for Frontliners funding.
The following are not to be subtracted from the calculation of the award:
If you enroll and attend community college for which you’re considered “in-district”, you’ll be able to get your degree tuition-free. That means you won’t pay any tuition, contact hours, or mandatory fees out of pocket. Please note, there may be expenses not covered to consider – for example, some classes/courses may have course fees associated that are not covered by the Future for Frontliners scholarship. See Are there other costs of going back to school?
If you don’t have a local community college or you choose to go to a community college outside of your district, you can receive a discount on tuition; the scholarship will pay the in-district tuition rate at your college and you will pay the difference between the in-district rate and out-of-district rate.
Visit our List of Colleges to find the community college in your district. If you’re still not sure, contact the community colleges nearest you to find out. You can find the email and phone number contact to each college on the same page.
