Red Flags
Some fad diets and weight-loss gimmicks are just plain unsafe and unhealthy. In fact, these can hurt you more they than can help you.
Beware of Programs That:
- Require that you purchase special foods or products.
- Endorse weight loss of more than 1-2 pounds per week.
- Promote unproven (and potentially dangerous) weight loss aids such as:
- Starch blockers
- Diuretics
- Sauna belts
- Body wraps
- Spirulina
- Amino acid supplements
- Passive exercise
- Chromium picolinate
- Electric muscle stimulating device
If you are currently following a program that includes any of these, please consult your physician or health care provider right away. They will help you find a healthier way to lose the weight, and you'll probably enjoy better results.
