Elliot Lerner
Name:
Elliot Lerner
Pounds lost:
25 pounds
% of body weight lost:
12%
What inspired you to lose weight?:
After coming home from an "all inclusive" vacation that included unlimited food and beverages I knew I was heavy. I went on the scale and realized I was heavier than I've ever been and I was certainly disappointed in myself. Around that same time I became aware of the MI Healthier Tomorrow program and I made the pledge!
What actions have you taken to lose weight?:
I changed my diet and started exercising and running at least 6 days each week (usually 7 days). I found I needed to get my metabolism moving, and that exercising only a couple of times a week wasn't going to get the job done. I also slowed down on the carbs (tried to cut back fried foods and sweets as best i could) and started eating a lot more salads, fruits and water.
What physical and/or mental changes have you noticed since you’ve lost weight?:
I've lost 3 inches on my waist so I've had to buy new suits, pants, shorts and belts. I certainly feel great. I ran the Detroit Free Press half marathon in October.
How did you hear about MI Healthier Tomorrow?
Roberta Jasina on WWJ and Stacey DuFord on WOMC!
How has MI Healthier Tomorrow contributed to your weight loss goal?:
I loved the packet I received and the information helped to inspire and motivate me!
What advice would you give fellow Michiganders who want to lose 10% of their weight?:
There is no shortcut and its really simple. As far as I'm concerned its all about eating smarter.....and revving up your metabolism...whether that means going to a gym or running....and you can't just do that a couple of times a week....you need to make every effort to do that daily!
