    Home visits are regular meetings with trained professionals. Once you are enrolled in a program, you will be matched with a home visitor, who will come to your home and get to know you. Your home visitor will talk to you about what is going well and what things might be a concern for you, and help connect you to community resources that you need.

  • How much do home visits cost?
    Home visits are free.

  • What are the qualifications of the home visitors?
    All home visitors have a lot of training in helping families. Depending on the program, most home visitors have at least a high school diploma and many have college degrees in health or early childhood development. Some home visitors are nurses or social workers, and work with other community professionals to help a family find the services they need.

  • Who can be enrolled?
    That depends on the program. Some home visiting programs are only for first time moms, while other programs are only for pregnant moms and infants under one year. Some programs serve families until the child is five years old.

  • How often do home visits happen?
    Depending on your needs, and how your program is set up, home visits can happen as often as every week or as little as once a month. Home visits usually last from one half hour to an hour, but may change depending on your needs.

  • Can I quit the program if I don't like it?
    Yes, the program is voluntary, so you can be a part of it for as long as you want. We hope you choose to stay with the program, or that you talk with your home visitor or his or her supervisor if you are not happy.
