Per MCL 338.1059, initial license fees may be waived for veterans applying for licensure under the Private Security Business and Security Alarm Act.
Private Security Guard Agencies and Alarm System Contractors
Per MCL 338.1056, veterans may apply experience gained while serving towards qualification requirements as a private security guard, if they acted as a military police officer (or an equivalent job classification) for at least 2 years, and provide an affidavit signed by a commanding officer, supervisor, or military superior with direct knowledge of his or her service indicating the veteran has entry level experience and knowledge in each of the following:
In order for the fees to be waived and/or to utilize experience towards qualification requirements, the applicant must provide either form DD214 or DD215 to prove separation from the armed forces was with an honorable character of service or under honorable conditions (general) character of service.
