Marine City Chiropractor Summarily Suspended

August 28, 2013 - The Michigan Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs (LARA) has immediately suspended the Michigan license to practice as a chiropractor of Steven Anthony Kern, D.C., of Marine City, Michigan based on his felony convictions in the United States District Court, Eastern District of Michigan.

On May 14, 2013, Kern was convicted of eight felony counts of Subscribing to a False Corporate Tax Return, and eight misdemeanor counts of Willful Failure to File Individual Income Tax Return. Kern was sentenced to imprisonment followed by supervised release with terms, and ordered to pay $161,419.00 in restitution and a $1,000.00 assessment.

On August 20, 2013, LARA issued an order summarily suspending Kern’s license pursuant to the Public Health Code which provides for the mandatory summary suspension of a health professional’s license upon the conviction of a felony, a misdemeanor punishable by imprisonment for a maximum term of two years, or a controlled substance-related conviction.
