Licensing and Regulatory Affairs
June 4, 2015 – Tiara Yachts, a manufacturer of luxury powerboats, held a “Coffee with MIOSHA” session in Holland to provide an informal opportunity for employers and company leaders to meet with Michigan Occupational Safety and Health Administration (MIOSHA) representatives and learn about agency services and resources. MIOSHA is part of the Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs (LARA).
Nearly 40 employers and employees attended the event to get the latest agency update from MIOSHA, ask questions, and learn how they can partner with MIOSHA to achieve greater safety and health in the workplace.
“The opportunity to connect with a new group of talented, working men and women and hold a meaningful dialogue on safe and healthful workplaces is absolutely invaluable,” said MIOSHA Director Martha Yoder. “We thank Tiara Yachts for hosting this event and making that connection possible.”
James Schneider, Tiara’s director of operations at the Holland Medi Center commented that the event was both enjoyable and informative.
Tiara Yachts sponsored the event in an effort to better “Connect MIOSHA to Industry” – a multi-year project to enhance customer service and program effectiveness. In line with LARA’s “customer driven, business minded” philosophy, the initiative focuses on increased communication, coordination and outreach throughout the MIOSHA program. Whether conducted by consultation or enforcement staff, the goal is to ensure MIOSHA interventions are informative and valuable.
MIOSHA was created by Public Act 154 of 1974 and became effective in 1975.
