May 11, 2017 – The Michigan Asian Pacific American Affairs Commission (MAPAAC), Michigan Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs (LARA) and Asian & Pacific Islander American Vote (APIAVote) – Michigan, hosted Asian Pacific American (APA) Day today at the State Capitol in Lansing.
APA Day showcases the accomplishments and contributions of Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders in Michigan and the U.S. during national Asian Pacific American Month.
“APA Day provides an opportunity to recognize and celebrate APAs in Michigan and across the U.S.,” said MAPAAC Chair Jamie Hsu Ph.D. “We honor all APA workplace, cultural and community contributions on this special day.”
The 2017 APA Day festivities included, keynote speaker Arianna Quan, Miss Michigan 2016. Ms. Quan is the first Asian American and naturalized citizen to be a state titleholder.

The event included an introduction of the APA Legislative Caucus as well as a resolution honoring Michigan’s Asian American and Pacific Islanders, presented by Sen. Hoon-Yung
