August 13, 2018 - Robert Bosch, LLC in Farmington Hills today was awarded the State of Michigan’s highest workplace safety and health award, the Michigan Voluntary Protection Program (MVPP) Star Award, from the Michigan Occupational Safety and Health Administration (MIOSHA). The MIOSHA program is part of the Michigan Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs (LARA).
“It is a pleasure to recognize Robert Bosch, LLC for creating a company culture that promotes excellence in workplace safety and health,” said MIOSHA Director Bart Pickelman. Implementing systems and best practices for increased worker safety prevents injuries, positively impacts a company’s bottom line, and exemplifies a true commitment among management and staff.”
Pickelman met with Bosch employees to congratulate them on their MVPP Star status and talk about the importance of workplace safety and health. Pickelman presented the MVPP plaque and flag to Mike Mansuetti, President, Robert Bosch North America, who accepted on behalf of all employees. Invited guests, management and employees attended the award presentation.
MIOSHA established the MVPP program in 1996 to recognize employers with exemplary safety and health systems and is open to all Michigan employers. To be eligible for the MVPP Star program, an applicant must demonstrate that the injury and illness incidence rates for each of the last three calendar years are below the rates published for their respective North American Industrial Classification System (NAICS) code.
The MVPP is designed to establish a cooperative relationship between management, labor, and MIOSHA. MVPP participants implement safety and health management systems that provide protections beyond what is required by MIOSHA standards. Current MVPP Star sites are available to mentor other companies that have an interest and desire to improve their safety and health management system.
As the most prestigious safety and health award given in Michigan, Robert Bosch, LLC becomes one of only 26 companies in the state of Michigan with MVPP Star status.
“We are delighted to have achieved the Star participant status in the Michigan Voluntary Protection Program at the Bosch Farmington Hills HQ and Technical Center,” said Jerry Smith, Vice President of Technical and Engineering Services for Bosch in North America. “It is a fantastic achievement not only to be awarded this status from MIOSHA but also to have all of our associates recognized for their commitment and dedication to safety. Our primary imperative is that our associates and our customers, suppliers and other visitors go home in the same condition of health in which they arrived.”
