Responsible for administration and enforcement of the Michigan Boiler Code (MBC) which includes conducting inspections of boiler installations and repairs and in-service inspections of existing boilers. Investigates boiler accidents and violations of the MBC and assures proper boiler permits are issued.

Responsible for administration and enforcement of the Michigan Elevator Code (MEC) by conducting inspections of elevator installations and alterations as well as annual safety inspections. Investigates elevator accidents and violations of the MEC and assures the proper elevator permits are issued.

Ensures orderly and consistent review of subdivision plats, conducts final review of subdivision plats, administers the statewide program of monumenting and remonumenting the original U.S. government public land survey corners, reviews petitions for the State Boundary Commission. Responsible for issuing boiler, building, electrical, elevator, mechanical and plumbing permits and Certificates of Occupancy. Permits can be obtained via mail or in-person at our Lansing office. Responsible for review of boiler, building, electrical, elevator, mechanical, and plumbing plans. Also reviews premanufactured unit plans, compliance assurance (CA) manuals, all barrier free design (BFD) exception requests and mobile home park (MHP) plans, and issues MHP permits to construct. Reviews can be submitted via mail or in-person at our Lansing office.
