Licensing and Regulatory Affairs
Dear Registered Forester,
As you may already know, earlier this year, the Governor signed into law Public Act 116 of 2018, that moves the regulation of Foresters from the Bureau of Professional Licensing (BPL) in the Michigan Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs (LARA) to the Michigan Department of Natural Resources (MDNR). This transfer will officially take place on July 25, 2018.
LARA and MDNR have been working together to make sure that the transition is as smooth as possible. If you are currently registered with LARA as a Forester, your registration will be transferred to MDNR. However, the new law makes many changes to the regulatory system for Foresters, so you may wish to take a few minutes to familiarize yourself with the new law.
If your current Forester registration is scheduled to expire in 2018 and you have not yet renewed your registration you have until July 30 to renew through the LARA website.
For questions regarding the new law you can contact Brenda Haskill at the Michigan Department of Natural Resources at Brenda Haskill at 989-732-3541 x5043 or HaskillB@michigan.gov . If you have questions regarding your current registration, you can still contact LARA-BPL at 517-241-9288 or BPLHelp@michigan.gov .
We take pride in the customer service provided by the Bureau of Professional Licensing and it has been a pleasure serving your profession.
