To enhance transparency and provide ongoing information related to COVID-19 workplace safety violations, the Michigan Occupational Safety and Health Administration (MIOSHA) has launched this dashboard to streamline reporting of workplace safety citations.
In addition to the full citation document and a brief description of the violation(s), the dashboard will update where each citation is in the enforcement process.
Citations abated, penalty paid and inspection closed - an establishment in this category has corrected the citation(s), paid any proposed penalties, and MIOSHA has closed the inspection.
Awaiting abatement or penalty and inspection open - an establishment in this category has unabated citation(s) and/or unpaid penalties. The inspection is open until MIOSHA has proof of abatement for all proposed citations and all penalties have been paid.
Under appeal - an establishment in this category has filed a second-level formal appeal. This process is handled by the MIOSHA appeals division and the Attorney General's office. The employer may appeal for modification or dismissal of the citation or proposed penalty, or for additional time to abate the citation.
Citation(s) vacated - an establishment in this category has had a citation(s) vacated including through the first-level informal appeal or the second-level formal appeal. The second-level formal appeal may include a ruling by an administrative law judge.
Most recent - new MIOSHA COVID-19 enforcement actions will be updated on Friday at 3 p.m.
