Detroit AmeriCorps Mentor Program
The Detroit AmeriCorps Mentor Program will support AmeriCorps members throughout the city of Detroit to serve as mentors at 5 Charter Schools in Detroit. AmeriCorps Members, serving as Mentors, will help families and youth by providing barrier reducing support to decrease the number of days they miss from school. A key indicator of student success is attendance and ensuring youth have a positive mentor in their life and families have support they need will lessen the burden of poverty that is faced that is a major contributor to chronic absenteeism. Through this service and experience, members will make an impact on people's education futures.
