Michiganders encouraged to volunteer on 20th anniversary of 9/11

9/11 Day banner

The Michigan Community Service Commission is supporting 25 volunteer projects for the 9/11 National Day of Service honoring the 20th Anniversary of those we lost during the terrorist attacks on America.

The Michigan Community Service Commission, in partnership with AmeriCorps the Agency, is awarding $18,000 in grants to organizations to engage volunteers in service projects. The theme "Honor, Serve, Unite" is focused on volunteer service bringing Americans together to honor those we lost and were harmed. Around 3,500 volunteers across the state will serve in the projects to thank our first responders, veterans, active military, and healthcare workers who fight for our freedom and health and meet pressing community needs.

"On the 20th anniversary of the 9/11 attacks, Michiganders will honor those we lost by uniting in service," said Michigan Community Service Commission Executive Director Ginna Holmes. "We encourage everyone to find a way to serve others and make a difference in their community."
