July 12, 2019 - The Michigan Occupational Safety and Health Administration (MIOSHA) has issued citations to Woods Carpentry Inc. for alleged violations of serious hazards to worker safety totaling $264,400 in penalties. MIOSHA is part of the Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs.
MIOSHA’s Construction Safety & Health Division conducted the inspection at an active construction jobsite of the company, which is located at 3129 Chicago Ave. SW, in Grandville, MI.
As a result of the inspection, the citations against Woods Carpentry Inc. are for the following violations:
Prior to this latest inspection, MIOSHA has investigated Woods Carpentry Inc. 12 times beginning in 2017 where several violative conditions were found that were hazardous to employees. Of the 12 inspections, violations were discovered on eight of the company’s jobsites resulting in $141,820 in initial proposed penalties for violations of MIOSHA rules and regulations. The employer is not taking the appropriate steps to protect employees and comply with applicable laws.
The company has 15 working days from receipt of the MIOSHA citations to comply or contest the violations and penalties.
