Current Status of Proposed Revisions to the Mammography Rules (Posted 2/28/2013)

The department incorporated comments made at the Public Hearing on September 5, 2012 and submitted the revised draft to the Office of Regulatory Reinvention (ORR). ORR sent this draft onto the Legislative Service Bureau (LSB) for their review. ORR and LSB have certified the rules for legality, form, classification and arrangement.

On February 27, 2013, ORR forwarded the rule set to the Joint Committee on Administrative Rules (JCAR). JCAR has 15 legislative session days to meet and object to the rules. If they do not object, ORR files the rules with the Office of the Great Seal after 15 JCAR sessions days expire. The rules become effective immediately upon filing with the Great Seal.

Our best estimate is that the new mammography rules will become effective mid- April 2013.

See our web page Draft Rules for Comment to view the draft being considered by JCAR.
