Why would a union member with seniority agree to reduced hours through Work Share when his/her job would be secure and an employee in his unit with less seniority would be laid off?

Work Share preserves the jobs and benefits of all the employees within the unit thereby:

  • eliminating the need for training new employees when work has returned to full time
  • maintaining the level of productivity and skills
  • sustaining the union workforce
