Mentor Michigan+ is pleased to announce the availability of grants to support mentoring programs in Southeast Michigan to enhance their capacity through the utilization of the National Quality Mentoring System (NQMS). We invite your mentoring program to apply for the unique opportunity to access this quality assessment system.
As a participating organization, you will receive a grant of up to $5,000 to support your program in improving practices. This includes 50 hours of customized support, training, and technical assistance provided by a Mentor Michigan+ Consultant.
The National Quality Mentoring System was developed by MENTOR: The National Mentoring Partnership and its network of state affiliates. Through a guided self-assessment and coaching process, NQMS helps mentoring programs adopt evidence-based mentoring standards and procedures based on the Elements of Effective Practice for Mentoring. Programs receiving funding will be matched with a MM+ Consultant to create a custom action plan that will assist their organization to improve the quality of its services. Programs that complete the process display a designated Badge that recognizes completion of the National Quality Mentoring System and the commitment to quality to funders.
Program
Mentoring organizations received a grant of up to $5,000 to support their program in improving practices. The nine programs who participated in the first pilot cohort are: Alternatives for Girls - Asset Building Program, Big Brothers Big Sisters of Metropolitan Detroit, Bridge Builders Counseling & Mentoring, Building Better Men Program, Kids Standard Publication Inc, Michigan, Mentor Livingston, My Sister's Keeper, Sisters Who Are Powerful (SWAP) and The Lawn Academy?. Funding for this grant opportunity was provided by the Ralph C. Wilson, Jr. Foundation.
How to Apply
There are two opportunities to receive support as part of the NQMS process. To be eligible, programs must be in operation for at least one year. The required NQMS process is outlined by Mentor Michigan+ here.
SE Michigan Mentoring Programs
