Hope Gain Center of West Michigan
Hope Gain Center of West Michigan
Mental health challenges are a significant factor in why individuals may leave their employment, yet organizations that provide support for mental health issues are increasingly sought after.
This reality hit home for Sheri Munsell, who founded Hope Gain following her own struggles with mental health that made conventional office work untenable. Once the community expanded to more than 180,000 members, it evolved into The Hope Gain Center of West Michigan.
Currently, The Hope Gain Center of West Michigan offers various initiatives aimed at removing employment obstacles for those with mental health conditions. The center collaborates with employers who are empathetic towards mental health challenges, ensuring participants find placements that are truly suitable for them.
The Empower Minds Workforce Development Initiative aims to assist individuals grappling with mental health issues in reentering the workforce. The initiative introduces the EMWI Refuge Center, a dedicated space equipped with computers for job searching, conducting remote interviews, and honing interview skills. Additionally, on-site counseling support is offered at minimal to no cost, ensuring comprehensive assistance for our participants. The initiative will not only serve the Grand Rapids area but also expand to include a remote center catering to residents of Wayne County, Muskegon, and Kalamazoo. Through this program, The Center will support 350 individuals across Michigan, providing them with essential tools and resources for their employment journey.
