Growing Through Career Conversations - Detroit Area
Join the Bureau of Services for Blind Persons (BSBP) and the Michigan Department of Education – Low Incidence Outreach (MDE-LIO) to explore potential careers and learn about workplace readiness and self-advocacy skills! At this event, students ages 13 and older who are blind/low vision (BLV), parents, and professionals will have opportunities to network with role models who are BLV and are currently employed in exciting careers. Panelists will share how they found their careers, including how self-advocacy, determination, and confidence played a role in their journey.
This is a two-part event that includes one virtual session and an in-person session. The in-person session will provide information on disability laws and policies, disability disclosure, requesting accommodations, and how to file a discrimination complaint. There will also be a session specifically for parents.
